MUSEUM OF THE SECOND WORLD WAR SIGNS CONTRACT FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A TOURIST SERVICE POINT ON WESTERPLATTE
Today, on October 31st, 2023, the Museum of the Second World War in Gdańsk signed a contract for the implementation of construction works for the project titled ‘Construction of a Tourist Service Point with a Multispace Parking Lot, landscaping elements, and construction and reconstruction of technical infrastructure on the Westerplatte Peninsula.’ The General Contractor is the company Budimex SA. The project is part of the investment project ‘Construction of the Westerplatte and the War of 1939 Museum in Gdańsk.’
The subject of the contract is the construction of a parking lot with parking spaces for cars and buses, as well as a tourist service building located just in front of the Westerplatte Battlefield. The facility will primarily serve as an information and service center for tourists visiting the Museum area. Additional spaces, including educational rooms, a restaurant, and office space, will also be created in the building. On the ground floor, there will be ticket counters, a souvenir shop, and exhibition space. The building will have three floors with a total usable area of 1858.1 m². Two observation terraces are planned on the top floor.
According to the contractual provisions, the General Contractor has 12 months to complete the construction works and 2 months for technical inspections of the building and obtaining an occupancy permit.
On behalf of the Museum of the Second World War in Gdańsk – the investor – the contract was signed by Museum Director Dr. Grzegorz Berendt, and on the part of the General Contractor, the document was signed by the Director of the Budimex SA Company Branch, Mr. Mariusz Hurylski.
