Information on a meeting between the Director of the Museum of the Second World War, Professor Paweł Machcewicz, and the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Culture and National Heritage, Professor Piotr Gliński
Museum Director Professor Paweł Machcewicz’s announcement regarding the Minister of Culture and National Heritage’s declaration of an intention to merge two public cultural institutions: the Museum of the Second World War in Gdańsk and the Museum of Westerplatte and the War of 1939.
“Each of you, my young friends, will find in life some personal Westerplatte. Some measure of tasks that have to be undertaken and fulfilled. Some rightful cause for which one cannot avoid fighting. Some duty, or necessity, which one cannot shun. From which one cannot desert.”
2 September saw a sitting of the Advisory Board of the Museum of the Second World War, during which its members were informed about the progress in the construction of the Museum and in the execution of the exhibition.
The inauguration of the open day at the construction site of the Museum of the Second World War was attended by: Minister of Culture and National Heritage Małgorzata Omilanowska, Head of the Prime Ministerial Chancellery Jacek Cichocki, and Gdańsk Mayor Paweł Adamowicz.
10 June this year saw another sitting of the Board of Trustees of the Museum of the Second World War. During that sitting most attention was devoted to the Museum’s current activity, its construction, and the progress in the execution of its main exhibition. Moreover, the members of the Advisory Board saw the Museum’s temporary exhibition‘‘45.
On 6 May 2015 the Museum of the Second World War in Gdańsk signed a contract with the Qumak Company, as the consortium leader, for the execution of the main exhibition.
On 20-22 May 2015 Museum of the Second World War organised the 2nd edition of the totalitarian propaganda film festival at the Gdańsk Shakespeare Theatre at Bogusławskiego Street 1.
The Museum of the Second World War took part in this annual event for the fifth time and prepared a specially organised educational zone.
