Workshop for directors of European museums
A workshop for museum directors was organized by our Museum on 24-25 January 2011 in Gdańsk. Its participants were representatives of leading European museums focussed on the Second World War, including the Imperial War Museum in London, Deutsches Historisches Museum in Berlin, National Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 in Kyiv, Musée de l' Armée in Paris and the Royal Museum of the Army and of Military History in Brussels. There were also Polish museum managers from the Central Museum of Prisoners-of-War in Łambinowice-Opole, the State Museum at Majdanek and the Stuthoff Museum.
The goal of this workshop was to improve cooperation and to provide a venue for sharing experiences among the various institutions in areas such as methodology and conceiving exhibitions. It also gave the Museum of the Second World War an opportunity to present its founding concept and to sketch out plans for its permanent exhibition.
