Polish citizenship for Norman Davies, chairman of the Museum of the Second World War Advisory Board
Professor Norman Davies, who serves as the chairman of the Museum of the Second World War Advisory Board, received Polish citizenship from President Bronisław Komorowski in a ceremony in Warsaw's Belvedere Palace on 4 July this year.
Norman Davies studied in Oxford, Grenoble, Perugia and Sussex and received his Ph.D. from Poland's Jagiellonian University. His doctoral thesis dealt with Poland 1919-1920 war with Soviet Russia. Norman Davies is best-known for his books on Polish history. He is the author of God's Playground, Heart of Europe,Rising '44: the Battle for Warsaw or Microcosm: A Portrait of a Central European City. In 2012 President Komorowski awarded Davies with Poland's highest distinction, the White Eagle Order, for his role in researching and popularising Polish history.
Professor Davies has served as the chairman of the Museum’s Advisory Board since 2009.
