PAN AWARD FOR BOOK PUBLISHED BY MSWW
We are pleased to announce that Dr. Alicja Bartnicka has received the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN) Gdańsk Branch Scientific Award for Young Researchers for her book Worldview in Action: Heinrich Himmler and His Vision of a Racial Empire of the Third Reich.
The monograph was published by the Museum of the Second World War in Gdańsk. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to the author! We encourage you to buy and read this valuable publication.
The award is given to researchers across five fields of science: humanities and social sciences, biological and agricultural sciences, exact sciences and Earth sciences, technical sciences, and medical sciences. The jury considered original research achievements published in 2023. The competition was open to employees or PhD candidates from research institutions in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian, Pomeranian, and West Pomeranian Voivodeships. The Gdańsk Branch of the Polish Academy of Sciences has recognized young researchers in this way since 2016.
Worldview in Action is a comprehensive analysis of the views and actions of Heinrich Himmler, one of the main architects of National Socialism in Germany and a leading war criminal of the 20th century.
About the Author
Alicja Bartnicka is an assistant professor at the Faculty of History at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. She holds a PhD in humanities. Her research interests focus on the history of the Third Reich, World War II, and the functioning of totalitarian systems. She has published in Polish and international scientific journals and has conducted research in the United States, Israel, Germany, and the United Kingdom.
