The international exhibition "Armoured Wings"

White-and-red flags, banners with slogans “Leve de Bevrijders!” (Long live the liberators!), “Long live Poland”, flowers – in this way the Flemish community welcomed the Polish 1st Armoured Division commanded by gen. Maczek. This grateful remembrance is still alive after so many years – as shown by the international exhibition "Armoured Wings" presenting the liberation of Flanders by the 1st Armoured Division in September 1944. Trilingual texts (Polish, English and Dutch version) are illustrated with a lot of photos and films that have never been published before. Panels are accompanied by unique exhibits including standards, soldiers’ diaries and soldiers' diaries.

The exhibition, another example of Polish-Belgian friendship, is organized on the initiative of Dirk Verbeke, the honorary secretary of Tielt. It is a collective venture of the General Representation of the Government of Flanders in Poland, Institute of National Remembrance, and Museum of the Second World War in cooperation with Polish Army Museum, Association First Polish Armoured Division Belgium and The National Institute of Polish Cultural Heritage Abroad. Many exhibits come from private collectors
Design and production: 7Muz.

The exhibition takes place from June 5th till July 28th in Przystanek Historia Janusz Kurtyka IPN Education Centre in Warsaw, Marszałkowska 21/25.
