Inauguration of the "Exhibit of the Month"
The Museum of the Second World War has launched the Exhibit of the Month series.Every month we will present a unique exhibit, which you cannot normally see in our exhibitions.
The event was opened by the Secretary of State in the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, Minister Jarosław Sellin, who presented to those gathered the museum's latest acquisition – a rudder from a Polish PZL.23 Karaś light bomber and reconnaissance aircraft. The acquisition of this exhibit comes thanks to the to the support of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, and especially the Deputy Minister of Culture, Jaroslaw Sellin. The guests were greeted by the Deputy Director of the Museum of the Second World War, Dr. Tomasz Gliniecki, and the Head of the Westerplatte and War of 1939 Museum, Mariusz Wójtowicz-Podhorski, who was involved in the process of obtaining the exhibit.
From today, as part of the “Exhibit of the Month", visitors can admire the rudder of the PZL.23 Karaś light bomber and reconnaissance aircraft designed in the early 1930s and used during the interwar period and the September campaign of 1939. The exhibit is the only one Karaś rudder that is almost entirely preserved and in its original colour. Visible is the white and red chessboard, the distinctive mark of the Polish air force and fragments of the inscription that denotes the aircraft model.
The exhibit of the month is displayed in the main hall of the museum on level -1, just beyond the main entrance.
