Important discovery on Westerplatte - pistol Browning FN calibre 7.65 mm with spare magazine
Today, during works on the ninth skeleton found yesterday at the archaeological site of the fifth season of archaeological research on Westerplatte, 7.65 Browning FN pistol with spare magazine was found at the waist height of the person whose skeleton was being lifted.
The weapon was secured by the prosecutor of the IPN Investigation Division, who appointed experts to disarm the potentially loaded pistol and carry out its maintenance works, allowing it to be exhibited in the future in the emerging Museum of Westerplatte and the War of 1939.
The place of discovery of the pistol and its location relative to the skeleton found by the archaeologists yesterday indicate that the ninth person, whose skeleton will be studied by anthropologists and geneticists in order to determine their identity, may be one of the non-commissioned officers of the last crew of the Military Transit Depot.
