Readers can familiarise themselves with the reality of the German occupation on Polish land thanks to the details perpetuated in the frames. The publication was divided into chapters, in which one can trace two parallel yet opposing worlds: of the occupants and of the inhabitants of Polish towns and villages, the Jews or the underground. The whole is closed with a timeline of war events, also illustrated with photos.
Apart from the touching pictures of great historic value, one can learn a broad range of phenomena connected with the Nazi occupation thanks to the commentaries that complement the photo material. They have the form of fragments of journals, accounts or court testimonies. Chosen items from the collection of the Museum of the Second World War in Gdańsk constitute a complement to the publication.
