Education at the Museum of the Second World War in Gdańsk
In the Museum of the Second World War in Gdańsk, we collect and supervise exhibits and witness accounts to preserve knowledge about the past. Knowledge about the past not only should be stored, but also should be passed on. To spread this knowledge and to share the experiences of people from those times, it is our task - the educators of the Museum of the Second World War.
We carry out our mission by conducting various educational activities, prepared with a view towards various types of recipients, including persons with disabilities.
We conduct classes in modern educational rooms, at exhibitions - permanent, for children and temporary exhibitions, as well as in the cinema hall.
During the courses, in accordance with the assumptions of modern museum education, we create situations in which participants independently build knowledge structures based on information from various sources - museum exhibits, memories, scientific studies, literature and visual arts.
Most of all, however, we would like to encourage reflection and thinking, so that the participants of the classes – through contact with the experiences of past generations – are able to draw important conclusions for themselves, for communities and places where they live and where their descendants will also live.
