"Routes of Liberation" exhibition opened in the European Parliament

On 13 February 2014 the opening ceremony of the exhibition “Routes of Liberation. European Legacies of the Second World War” took place in the European Parliament in Brussels. The exhibition considers the origins, course, and complex legacies of the Second World War. Museum of the Second World War in Gdańsk is one of its authors.

The exhibition was opened together by the President of the European Parliament Martin Schulz and Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte (Foundation Liberation Route Europe from the Netherlands was the main initiator of the exhibition).

The opening was preceded by a symposium „Towards a multinational perspective on war, liberation and remembrance” with the participation of Prof. dr hab. Paweł Machcewicz, director of the Museum of the Second World War in Gdańsk, Prof. dr Sönke Neitzel from the Department of International History at the London School of Economics and Political Science and Keith Lowe, historian and author of the international bestseller “Savage Continent”.

“Routes of Liberation” will be shown in Poland at the beginning of 2015.
