    Nationwide collection of exhibits

    Album z pamiątkami kpt. Piotra Pawlaka, oficera artylerii 31 pal. WP, który dostał się do niewoli w 1939 r. pod Krojantami. W latach 1939-41 przebywał kolejno w obozach jenieckich: Grossborn, XA Itzehoe, Merlag und Milag Nord Sandbostel i XC Lübeck (Lubeka). W 1941 r. został przetransportowany do Oflagu IIC Woldenberg. Z niewoli powrócił w 1945 r.

    Handkerchief with Bolesław Wnuk's secret message to his family. This handkerchief, a priceless family memento, was placed on deposit at the Museum by Wnuk’s grandson, Prof. Rafał Wnuk, a researcher at the Museum. Bolesław Wnuk’s handkerchief contains a kite, a letter to his family in which he bids them farewell and lets them know that he will shortly die.
    Bolesław Wnuk's documents. Bolesław Wnuk was arrested by the Germans in October 1939 for his public activities, which included serving as a member of the Sejm in its last pre-war session. He was shot to death in June 1940.

    A photo of Jan Rzeszeiwcz. Born on 5 January 1910 in Oliwa (one of the quarters of Gdańsk). Rzeszewicz completed a tailoring course in Berlin and run a tailor shop in Starogard Gdański together with his relatives. On 28 February 1942 he was forcibly recruited by the Wehrmacht.

    Captain Antoni Kasztelan's mementos. Antoni Kasztelan served as the head of counter-intelligence in the Coastal Defence Command and took part in the defence of Hel Peninsula. After surrendering, he was held by the Germans in the Stutthof camp as a political prisoner. On 12 January 1942 a court in Gdańsk handed him a quadruple death sentence for so-called actions harmful to the German state. He was guillotined in December 1942.
    Kitchen knife donated by Maria Borkowska-Flisek from Gdańsk. It came from a set, which the Polish-Jewish Borkowski family took with them from their home in Warsaw in September 1939. Following the German invasion, the family fled to Lvov. In 1943 Maria Borkowska’s father was arrested and sentenced to 10 years in a forced labour camp, where he died in 1952. Maria and her mother lived in kolkhozes. They arrived in Gdańsk on 24 April 1946. The knife had accompanied them on their wanderings. It had been blunted
