Field gun model 1902 now in the collection of the Museum of The Second World War!

As part of the expansion of its existing collection, the Museum of the Second World War in Gdańsk has acquired a field gun model 1902 with a caliber of 76.2 mm. The gun was manufactured in 1917 at the Putilov Plant in St. Petersburg and, from 1918, was part of the armament of the Finnish armed forces. Even in the 1990s, it was still being used for the basic training of future artillerymen. Field gun models 1902 were also part of the inventory of the Polish Army.

Despite being considered outdated in 1939, well-trained artillerymen effectively utilized their capabilities during the battles of the Polish campaign. One of these guns was also in service with the Military Transit Depot on Westerplatte. The purchased gun, after renovation and the addition of missing elements, will be displayed and, ultimately, will enrich the exhibition being prepared as part of the Westerplatte and Defensive War of 1939 Museum. The gun acquired by the Museum of the Second World War is one of four pieces of this type of weapon in Poland.
