Cooperation with the Military Historical Office
Directors of the Museum of the Second World War in Gdansk and the Military Historical Office have signed a cooperation agreement. The ceremony took place on Monday in the Museum of the Second World War in Gdansk. The agreement was signed by the director of the Military Historical Office (WBH) Dr. Sławomir Cenckiewicz and the museum director Dr. Karol Nawrocki.
The WBH archive contains unique photographs, private legacies, and materials from former soldiers.
"We have very interesting archival and photographic collections that we would like to share with various institutions that have the opportunity to display our collections. We do not have these possibilities, we are basically an archival institution. We need to cooperate with museums that can display these collections. These are undervalued collections because for many years access to them was difficult; however, I can assure that these collections are unique," said Prof. Cenckiewicz.
Thanks to cooperation with the WBH, the Museum of the Second World War wants to obtain materials that emphasise Polish military action and Polish engagement and experience during World War II.
Professor Cenckiewicz gave the Museum of the Second World War a white and red armband that was most probably used during World War II.
