AGREEMENT BETWEEN MSWW AND THE INSTITUTE OF ROAD AND BRIDGE RESEARCH
On June 27th of this year, the director of the Museum of the Second World War in Gdańsk - Dr. hab. Grzegorz Berendt, and the director of the Institute of Road and Bridge Research - Dr. Eng. Mariusz Urbański, signed an agreement on cooperation between the two institutions.
The cooperation will involve joint implementation of scientific and research projects, as well as historical and educational endeavors, with a particular focus on knowledge exchange and experience related to the organization of the Tczew Bridges Museum - a branch of the Museum of the Second World War in Gdańsk. This institution was established by the decree of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage on July 29th, 2022. The main exhibition of the Museum will narrate the history of the Tczew bridges as silent witnesses of World War II.
The Institute of Road and Bridge Research is a leading scientific research institution in the country, specializing in the field of transportation infrastructure. In 2014, the world's first pontiseum, a museum of bridge structures, was established on its premises. The permanent exhibition of the facility is dedicated to the components of the first permanent bridges of Warsaw, which were retrieved from the Vistula River bed after lying there for over 70 years. They are now considered technical heritage monuments and an essential element of the national heritage.
The areas of cooperation between the partners will encompass activities such as:
1) Dissemination of scientific and technical knowledge regarding the Tczew bridges and bridge structures in Poland and worldwide during conferences and seminars.
2) Promotion of books and other publications related to the history of the Tczew bridges and bridge structures in Poland and worldwide.
3) Organization and co-organization of permanent, mobile, and temporary exhibitions associated with the history of the Tczew bridges and bridge structures in Poland and worldwide.
