Following Courage – A New Game in the Main Exhibition

Following Courage – A New Game in the Main Exhibition

From 22 March to 14 June 2026, the Museum of the Second World War in Gdańsk would like to invite you to take part in the "Following Courage" campaign. This unique way of exploring the museum allows visitors to better understand the fates of the Polish heroes featured in the main exhibition.

Using a Seeker’s Card, participants find eight specific points, answer questions, collect stamps, and enter a competition for prizes. It is an ideal option for anyone who wants to explore the exhibition more attentively and in a more engaging way.

    • How do we not lose sight of what is most precious? Within the Museum's vast space and hundreds of display cases, it is easy to overlook small-scale artefacts that bear witness to extraordinary "traces of courage".

Taking part in the event transforms passive viewing into an immersive adventure. It is designed for those who prefer following the trail of heroes rather than focusing on dates, maps, or exhibit descriptions. At the heart of the game are people – their dilemmas and choices, experiences, and acts of courage that are not defined by grandiose words, but by the deeds and decisions they made during the war.

Through this initiative, the Museum's exhibition becomes a space for a more personal encounter with history. Following Courage helps you view the past through an individual lens, uncovering moving stories that resonate and remain with you long after your visit.

    • At the start of your visit, simply collect a Seeker's Card – available at the ticket offices and at the entrance to the exhibition – and set off in the footsteps of the heroes featured in the main exhibition. At designated stations associated with individual figures, participants answer questions and collect stamps to verify each stage of their journey.

The card guides you through a series of traces, encouraging more mindful exploration and active participation. For those who collect a full set of stamps, prizes await as a rewarding culmination to the tour.

    • To take part in the game, simply collect a Seeker's Card (available at the ticket offices and at the start of the exhibition) at the beginning of your visit, and set off in the footsteps of the Polish heroes whose stories are featured in various sections of the main exhibition. Questions and unique stamps await in designated zones near the displays associated with specific individuals. Each answer and stamp provides tangible proof of a new discovery.

Once you have collected a full set of stamps and completed your card, collect your prize from the museum shop. The campaign also extends beyond the exhibition space – into the virtual world. Visit our specially prepared photo point to take a photo or record a story, then post it on social media with the hashtag #ŚladamiOdwagi and tag @muzeum1939 to receive an additional gift.

Special prizes are also available for the most creative participants. These will be awarded to the authors of the three most interesting Instagram posts that showcase the "Following Courage" journey in the most original and engaging way. The competition runs from 22 March to 14 June 2026.

    • The game is designed to make exploring the exhibition and engaging with history both intuitive and immersive. Completing the Seeker's Card tasks helps visitors navigate the extensive displays, providing a narrative thread and encouraging a deeper examination of each story.

This is an excellent choice for both first-time visitors and anyone who wants to see the exhibition from a fresh perspective. Participation allows you to learn about the fates of heroes while exploring history in a more active and meaningful way.

Some stories resonate most powerfully only when you follow them in a mindful way. Step by step. Carefully.
