At exactly 4:48 a.m, to commemorate the 77th anniversary of the German invasion of Poland, the Museum managment and staff placed flowers and lit candles on the symbolic graves at the Defenders Cemetary on Westerplatte. Short simple prayers were said and everyone present took a moment to reflect od the tragic events of September 1939.

We are pleased to inform that Muzeum Westerplatte has began co-operation with "Wizna 1939" foundation. The partnership documents were signed on the symbolic date of 1st September 2016, with a visit from the chairmen of "Wizna1939".

On 1st September 2016 on Westerplatte a unique cultural event took place – Independence Concert: Westerplatte Edition.

Today, on this symbolic day, a unique exhibit has arrived at the Museum – the Polish national emblem with a crowned eagle. This emblem is identical with the one that hang on the gate of Polish garrison barracks at Westerplatte. Emblems such as this one were placed on state office buildings and state institutions in pre-war Poland.
