SIGNING OF AGREEMENT ON PARTNERSHIP WITH POLFERRIES POLSKA ŻEGLUGA BAŁTYCKA S.A.

SIGNING OF AGREEMENT ON PARTNERSHIP WITH POLFERRIES POLSKA ŻEGLUGA BAŁTYCKA S.A.

On June 22nd, 2023, aboard the Nova Star ferry, an agreement of partnership was signed between the Museum of the Second World War in Gdańsk and Polska Żegluga Bałtycka SA (Polferries). This collaboration marks another initiative to popularize historical knowledge about the world's largest armed conflict.

A special focus will be placed on the narrative of the Westerplatte peninsula - the site where World War II began. This area also connects both parties forming the agreement - Polferries ships of Polska Żegluga Bałtycka dock at the local ferry terminal, while the Museum manages the nearby area where a branch of the institution is being established.

Addressing the attendees, Dr. hab. Grzegorz Berendt, the Director of the Museum of the Second World War in Gdańsk, stated:

As a cultural institution, we are committed to operating in various dimensions on the Westerplatte grounds. I am extremely pleased that we can work together to disseminate information about the history of our country, our social and national experience. This information can reach thousands of our neighbors from the Baltic Sea basin. (...) Today, we observe how Westerplatte is changing. We are building a modern museum here with the support of business communities. With your help, we will be able to extend the story of Polish history to Scandinavia.

Andrzej Kałwa, the Business Development Director of Polferries, also spoke:

Our company is the only one connecting the capital region of Sweden with the Tri-City area, and importantly, the traffic occurs daily (...) We share a location, departing from Westerplatte, which is a part of the Museum of the Second World War (...) We are launching a project in which we will promote the Museum through our advertising campaigns in Scandinavia and generate even greater tourist traffic.

As part of the agreement, mutual promotional activities will be carried out on Polferries ferries and at the Museum. Additionally, souvenirs and information materials about the activities and offerings of both entities will be available for purchase at retail points. The collaboration also encompasses the dissemination of knowledge about World War II, the fate of the Polish nation during the war, and the history of Polish military formations during that period. Furthermore, Polferries and the Museum will jointly organize exhibitions related to World War II and educational initiatives.

Thanks to this partnership, passengers of Polferries will be eligible for a discounted admission ticket to the Museum of the Second World War in Gdańsk. Purchasing a ticket at over 20% off will be possible for one month from the date of the ferry journey, upon presenting the onboard card. This discount will be applicable regardless of the ferry line used by customers of the Polish operator.
