This institution was established by the decree of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage on July 29th, 2022. The main exhibition of the Museum will narrate the history of the Tczew bridges as silent witnesses of World War II.

The Institute of Road and Bridge Research is a leading scientific research institution in the country, specializing in the field of transportation infrastructure. In 2014, the world's first pontiseum, a museum of bridge structures, was established on its premises. The permanent exhibition of the facility is dedicated to the components of the first permanent bridges of Warsaw, which were retrieved from the Vistula River bed after lying there for over 70 years. They are now considered technical heritage monuments and an essential element of the national heritage.
