The Ambassador of France visits the museum
On 30 June this year, the Museum of the Second World War was visited by Pierre Lévy, the French Ambassador to Poland. Together with him at a meeting with the museum management was Alain Mompert, Honorary Consul of France, and the director of the French Institute in Poland, Stanislas Pierret.
The Ambassador of France during today's meeting with the museum raised the issue of General Haller and the exhibition dedicated to the Polish army, which he officially opened this month. At the French Embassy, the exhibition entitled "Haller's Blue Army in France. Establishment of an independent Polish Army on 4 June 1917" can be seen until the end of the summer, after which it will be displayed in other Polish cities.
Director Karol Nawrocki recalled during the discussion that this year is the 50th anniversary of Charles de Gaulle's visit to Poland. He also discussed the state of research into Poland’s most recent history.
The museum’s deputy director Prof. Berendt, who was present at the meeting, talked about the mission and immediate aims of the museum and then guided the delegation around the museum’s main exhibition.
This was one of several visits to the museum by foreign guests. Since April, we have hosted the US Ambassador Paul W. Jones, the German Consul General Cornelia Pieper, the Ambassador of Finland Hanna Katariine Lehtinen and the Ambassador of Belgium Colette Taquet.
